EXCLUSIVE: Laalo actor Karan Joshi says, “After our film, the culture of rooted movies will start in Gujarati cinema”; also shares why he and his team aren’t too surprised by its enormous success

Filmmaker Ankit Sakhiya’s Gujarati film Laalo – Krishna Sada Sahaayate released during last Diwali to a slow start. But it picked up later and its collections kept on increasing. It ultimately crossed the magic figure of Rs. 100 crores EXCLUSIVE: Laalo actor.. Debutant Karan Joshi, who plays Laalo, one of the leads in the film, spoke about the movie’s journey and success in an exclusive chat with Bollywood Hungama. The film is all set to release in Hindi from today Friday January 9.

The actor said that the film’s success has impacted his life EXCLUSIVE: Laalo actor.. “It has changed in a lot of ways,” he said. “Earlier, 40 people used to recognize me, now it’s 400. That’s the difference. People’s trust towards me as an actor has increased that I can pull the film all by myself EXCLUSIVE: Laalo actor.. But me and my team aren’t very surprised because we knew that if we work honestly, it will turn out to be good. ”
Joshi believes that the film’s success has opened doors for something else as well EXCLUSIVE: Laalo actor.. “We are happy that after our film, the culture of rooted films will start in Gujarati,” he said. “In Gujarat, there are urban and rural films EXCLUSIVE: Laalo actor.. Our film lies in between. So, it has been seen in rural and urban areas. More than watching, they are celebrating the film. Joshi plays an auto rickshaw driver in Laalo EXCLUSIVE: Laalo actor.. Sharing about his preparation, he said, “I went to Junagadh a week before the shoot,” he said. “I used to ride an auto rickshaw there. I was given the freedom to choose the clothes and accessories for my character EXCLUSIVE: Laalo actor.. Ankit told me to buy whatever I feel is right for the character. He is such an understanding director EXCLUSIVE: Laalo actor.. More than professional, this film is personal. If we start making films in such a personal manner, a lot of films from Gujarat will get national recognition. In the entire India, the four of us (he along with director Ankit Sakhiya and actors Shruhad Goswami and Reeva Rachh) are representing Gujarati industry. What can be more blessed than this. ”

Joshi also had a challenging character to play; one which goes through different emotions throughout the film. “I had full freedom in acting,” he said. “So, I enjoyed it. I had the graph with me. I hadn’t thought how I would portray it as I didn’t want to do it that way. It was all about what I do on floors naturally. I had a lot of details about the character being marked. I used to extend it with his backstory. ”
There is an article on one of the leading portals, which says that Joshi is a Chartered Accountant from Jamnagar and he owns a comedy club EXCLUSIVE: Laalo actor.. However, the actor firmly stated that none of this is true. “I am not a CA, I am not from Jamanagar and I am not the founder of a comedy club. I have learnt hardware engineering EXCLUSIVE: Laalo actor.. I then did a job in hardware EXCLUSIVE: Laalo actor.. Then I joined college and passed out in Hindi literature. I have been doing theatre since 2016. I wanted to be an actor since childhood EXCLUSIVE: Laalo actor.. But I didn’t know how to become an actor. I joined college after 12th to do theatre,” he said.
