In a recent interview with Vogue, this Bhatt expressed her love for sarees, describing them as the Indian equivalent of the iconic little black dress. The actor highlighted the garment’s comfort, versatility, and enduring appeal, noting how it suits almost every occasion while allowing room for creativity and style.

‘Saree Is Our Little Black Dress’
On December 18, Vogue shared a video from their Life In Looks series featuring this Bhatt, where she reflected on her style evolution—from her early preppy looks to her elegant chai-dipped wedding saree Alia.. Speaking about the sarees she wore for her character Rani in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, this said, “The sarees in India is our little black dress Alia.. It’s really comfortable. It suits every occasion, and when you give it pop, and you give it colour, it becomes super fun. ”
She also shared how her character’s frequent saree looks in the movie inspired a capsule collection during the film’s promotions. “We did like an online sale, and you know that money went to charity, and it crashed the website, like it sold out in 3 and 1/2 minutes. That’s how much of a rage the sarees became,” she added, highlighting the public’s enthusiasm for the traditional drape.

Another iconic saree moment for Alia was her Sabyasachi Mukherjee-designed wedding saree, which she wore for her marriage to Ranbir Kapoor. Speaking about her special-day outfit, she said, “I have said this time and again, but I feel so comfortable and so myself in a saree. ”
Alia revealed that she had asked Sabyasachi to design a look that was both comfortable and elegant, in gold and white tones. Sabyasachi suggested a chai-dipped white organza saree, which Alia complemented with statement earrings, a choker necklace, a mang teeka, and other traditional accessories, creating one of her most memorable and celebrated looks.
